Introducing our new Assistant director

Hello! To kick off March, I’d like to introduce myself – my name is Harry Rein. I am the new Assistant Director for the Town Shop. I have had a long history with the Town Shop – my first time coming here for an open mic was in 2011. I was a Freshman in High School at West Genesee and instantly fell in love with the music, the art, and the people. I graduated in 2014 and went off to college in the Hudson Valley, where I attended SUNY New Paltz to earn my degree in Digital Media Management, with a minor in Film and Video studies.

I took that degree and worked in various industries, including radio, non-profit, and marketing. I came back to the Town Shop because I had just moved back to Syracuse and was looking to find a place to invest my free time back into my community. At the start of 2020, I began volunteering services to the Town Shop, and about a year after that, I got a call from Deb to see if I was interested in joining the team. I had no idea what that would have looked like, but my answer was a resounding YES.

A few of my interests include backpacking, bouldering/rock climbing, camping, and just going for hikes in the woods and being around nature. I am also very much in love with the arts and am a fanatic for visual arts, music, film, creative writing, and anything that lets me flex my creative muscles and create.

I live with my Girlfriend, Gabriella, in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood with our three cats (Bobbles, Kai and Osmond!)

I am so psyched to be here. The Town Shop is such a special place, and the benefits it has for the young people in our area are immeasurable. While I am here, I want to find ways to bring people together, foster positivity, and bring out the best in our Town Shoppers.

I hope we can all have tons of fun and get to know each other soon. I will be here for all of the upcoming events, so feel free to come up and say hi!
